For me, every painting is a journey in connecting to the world around me.
By closely observing the places, people and animals as I paint, I come to know and appreciate them more deeply. Starting from life or in the field allows me to not only study their form, but the energy and feeling of being with my subject. Returning to the studio, I use a combination of photo references, notes and memory to search for how to bring their beauty and truth to the canvas.
At the same time, I am responding to what emerges from the painting, letting it guide me to what it could become. In sharing my art with you, I hope you will intentionally bring your own memories and aspirations to the images, making them part of telling your story - your own journey. Art has the power to connect us across time, across space to each other. It is a joy to share this connection with you.
